I am currently doing a BTEC ND in Health and Social Care and I have been given an assignment on communication. I've been trying to find information about support for people with LDs and ASDs and have information on Makaton, Signalong, speech therapy, etc. Unfortunately I can't find any information about how technology could help support communicational needs in those with LDs - this is the focus of my assignment. Since my brother has an ASD and is particularly fond of technology, I think it would be especially beneficial to find some information on the subject. Any information that you might have would be wonderful

Hi Camilla,
There are a lot of communication aids etc and probably the best thing to do would be to get along to the Fringe which is currently on at the Hilton Olympia, or if you're not able to get to London before it finishes on Friday, then have a look at the Communication Matters website and try to find a CM Roadshow near you.
Good luck!
Mike

Hi camilla, communication aids range from low tech such as symbol books and communication passports up to high tech voca's (voice output communication aids) that can be dynamic or static, most of these are also computers and have environmental controls etc. If you want any more info please ask signalong for my email, alternatively check out the PRI Liberator website, techcess website, the ace centre or Grid 2 - Sensory software.
