I am a speech therapist in a service for adults with learning difficulties. Recently some self advocates have approached our team about training other people in signalong. Has anyone developed any training materials for this group of people? Please email me if you have any ideas or experiences.

A Peer Resource training pack is available from Signalong. The aim of the resource is to enable clients to work with peers in the development of their communication skills.
It is intended that a group facilitator who is a registered Signalong tutor should be present during each session and work with the peer tutors.
Signalong also has a Peer Learning course which is accredited externally by the Open College Network (OCN) at Entry 3. This recognises with a certificate, the skills of people in tutoring their peers in sign and communication.
To deliver this course tutors must hold current registration with Signalong and have attended OCN upgrade training.
Please contact the Signalong centre in Rochester for further details and more information.
